STEM CELL THERAPY FOR KNEES
IN DENVER

As a pioneer in Stem Cell Therapy, Denver Regenerative Medicine has been successfully treating knees with stem cells for almost a decade.  Because we extract 3 different types of cells in our unique process, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSC’s), Adipose-derived stem cells, and platelets, we are able to get stronger, more longer-lasting results than when only one type of stem cell or donor stem cell are used.  Our process, which takes approx. hours in our outpatient clinic has patients feeling significant improvements 30% faster than if just one type of stem cell is used.

DOES STEM THERAPY WORK BETTER THAN SURGERY FOR KNEE PAIN OR KNEE INJURIES?

Often patients are left with few options regarding treatment for degenerative knee arthritis. Surgical options for those dealing with painful knee issues range from arthroscopic knee surgery to total knee joint replacement. New research has shown that some of the most popular arthroscopic surgeries have no benefit at all (including meniscus surgery). Knee replacement surgery is extremely invasive and includes many risks of life-threatening risks. Additionally, all surgeries minimally require months of painful rehab to regain strength and mobility. Most surgeries also accelerate the degeneration that led to osteoarthritis to begin with. In this context, stem cell therapy for knees presents a potential alternative that needs consideration.

Sometimes surgery is required for severe cases and we acknowledge that stem cells cannot treat everything.  However, we have seen exciting results in difficult cases, such as “bone on bone” arthritis, and complete ligament tears. At Denver Regenerative Medicine we have helped thousands of patients with severe arthritis avoid knee replacement and continue to do the things they love with little or no pain.  Our patients require little to no downtime following our knee Stem Cell Therapy procedure and are feeling much better within a few weeks.

RESEARCH ON STEM CELL THERAPY FOR KNEE PAIN

There has been much research recently into stem cell therapy for the treatment of knee conditions, with few promising results.  Here is just one excerpt from the highly respected British Journal of Sports Medicine regarding their review of the current research on stem cell therapy for knees.

Bone-marrow-derived stem cells, adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells, and peripheral blood stem cells were used. All five RCTs reported superior efficacy for patient-reported outcomes (Visual Analogue Scale, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index, Tegner, Lysolm, International Knee Documentation Committee, Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score, Lequesne) compared with controls at final follow-up (range 24–48 months). Superior radiological outcomes were found favoring stem cell injection. Superior histological outcomes and/or improved arthroscopically scored healing rates were reported in two trials. No serious adverse events were reported.1

ADULT STEM CELLS FROM YOUR BONE MARROW

Our stem cell procedure uses adult stem cells from the bone marrow that have been isolated and then concentrated into a high concentration. Using stem cells from your own body promotes natural healing.

Stem cell treatments and stem cell therapies for knee osteoarthritis and other knee issues have become the most popular treatment modality at Denver Regenerative Medicine.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME FOR STEM CELL THERAPY FOR KNEE PAIN OR KNEE INJURIES?

As the stem cells begin to work to regenerate the damaged tissue in the knee joint, our patients continue to experience gains in function and reduction of pain for up to 3 months, at which point most of our patients have a significant or complete reduction of their pain and a vast increase in functionality.  We have seen that this improvement is permanent for up to 10 years (as long as we have been performing these procedures) or longer.  It is important to point out that total joint replacement surgery will only last between 12-15 years before another replacement is needed.

A FINAL WORD OF CAUTION REGARDING FULL OR PARTIAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

Stem cell therapy will not work on an artificial joint surface. So, once you have had replacement surgery, stem cell therapy is no longer an option. It is always advisable to try stem-cell therapy first before invasive surgical procedures.2

COMMON KNEE CONDITIONS HELPED BY STEM CELL THERAPY

These are some examples of the types of knee conditions that we successfully treat with our unique stem cell therapy process;

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis of the knee
  • Meniscus Tears
  • ACL, MCL, PCL, or LCL sprain or tear
  • Knee Instability
  • Patellofemoral Syndrome/Chondromalacia
  • Pes anserine bursitis
  • Baker’s cyst
  • Patellar tendonitis
  • Biceps Femoris Insertional Tendinopathy
  • Hamstrings Tendinopathy

This is not a complete list as we treat many other ailments of the knee.  If you are suffering from knee pain resulting from any cause, or no known cause, we can help determine if stem cell treatment is the right solution for you.
